Gesichtsl\u00e4hmungen sind nicht nur kosmetisch entstellend, sie k\u00f6nnen auch auf bedeutsame gesundheitliche Probleme hinweisen. Im Centrum f\u00fcr Neurotherapie (Leitung: Prof. Dr. med. B. Baumann) f\u00fchren Spezialisten eine ursachenorientierte neuartige\u00a0Therapie durch mit sehr guten Erfolgen auch bei bisher hartn\u00e4ckig verbleibender L\u00e4hmung des Gesichtes (Fazialisparese).<\/p>

Gesichtsl\u00e4hmungen beruhen auf einer Sch\u00e4digung des Nervus facialis, dem siebten der 12 Hirnnerven. Oft liegen entz\u00fcndliche Ver\u00e4nderungen des Nerven durch Viren oder Bakterien der Fazialisparese zugrunde. In vielen F\u00e4llen lassen sich solche Erreger nicht ohne weiteres nachweisen, man spricht dann von einer idiopathischen Fazialisparese. Diese heilt zwar in \u00fcber 80% der F\u00e4lle wieder weitgehend ab, es bleiben jedoch viele Betroffene, die unter einer unvollst\u00e4ndig zur\u00fcckgegangenen L\u00e4hmung des Gesichtes leiden.<\/p>

Unterschieden wird zwischen peripherer und zentraler Fazialisparese. Bei der peripheren Form ist die Stirn im Unterschied zur zentralen mit betroffen. Da die periphere Form (scheinbar) nur den Hirnnerven und nicht wie die zentrale Form das Gehirn betrifft, gilt sie als weniger schwerwiegend. Im Centrum f\u00fcr Neurotherapie stellen wir jedoch h\u00e4ufig Begleitfaktoren der peripheren L\u00e4hmung fest, die durchaus auch das Gehirn sch\u00e4digen k\u00f6nnen. Hier setzt unsere Behandlung an, mit der in vielen F\u00e4llen auch bei hartn\u00e4ckig verbleibender L\u00e4hmung sichtbar gute Effekte erzielt werden.
